Reisepass beantragen in Berlin: catch a free passport appointment
The German travel passport (Reisepass) is issued personally at the local
Bürgeramt — the biometric photo is taken there, so every application, renewal, replacement or
children's passport requires an appointment. And just like other documents, the
service.berlin.de
calendar fills up fast: expiry waves push everyone to the same offices, and freed slots
disappear within minutes.
Our Reisepass live monitor tracks that exact calendar
once per minute, for every Berlin district office, and lists here, in real
time, every date that currently has bookable passport appointments. When a
new date shows up, you get a sound alert and a banner — one click from the official booking
page for that exact date.
First passport, renewal, replacement — how to book in 3 steps
Whether it's your first Reisepass, a renewal before expiry
(book early — it's cheaper inside the pre-expiry window and avoids last-minute stress), or a
lost/damaged replacement, the booking flow is identical — only your documents differ.
- Keep this page open. It updates automatically about once per minute with the official calendar.
- When a date appears, click it. You land on the official service.berlin.de flow: pick a time and a district office, enter your details.
- Show up with: your old passport (if any), your Personalausweis as ID, any marriage/name-change certificate — for children, both parents' IDs and the child's birth certificate.
After the appointment the passport is produced federally and arrives by registered mail,
usually within about 2 weeks. Urgent travel? Ask about the
Express-Reisepass option at your Termin.
Frequently asked questions — Reisepass Berlin
My passport expired while travelling. What now?

Can non-Germans get their home country's passport here?
No — this Termin issues German passports to German citizens resident in Berlin. Other nationalities apply through their embassy or consulate.
What about a Kinderausweis (children's document)?
Children's passports (Kinderreisepass) are also booked at the Bürgeramt; passports for under-12s are valid for only 5 years, so plan renewals accordingly. Both parents must confirm the application with their IDs.

Reisepass beantragen in Berlin: freien Termin ergreifen
Erstpass, Verlängerung, Ersatz – Buchung in 3 Schritten

Dringende Reise? Fragen Sie zum Termin nach
dem Express-Reisepass.
